The Domino’s Ladies’ Flag Football
League saw three close games and a thrashing in week 2. Player of the Week
Jessica Pawlik of Chiro Spa almost single handedly dismantled Appleby as she
threw five touchdown passes and five extra points. Pawlik who was 13 of 18 on
the day turned around her first week performance, when she threw five interceptions,
in gaining Player of the Week honours.
Shamar Ennis caught three of the
touchdown passes while Cindy Blekaitis and Chrystal Bush each had one touchdown
catch. Lisa Jueneza led the defence with four tackles and an interception.
Maggie Ebanks chipped in with an interception as well.
For Appleby the struggles continued
as they are still trying to find their game. Joni Ebanks and Carrie Bennett
shared quarterback duties for Appleby and completed 7 of 17 passes between
them. Alesia Evans and Ashley O’Neil each had four tackles for the Appleby defensive
effort. Chiro Spa are now 1 and 1 on the year and take on Walkers tomorrow
while winless Appleby try to get on track against Andro.
Lone Star Jager Monsters made it
two in a row as they took down Zulu’s Warriors 27-12. Rookie Claire Harris had
two electrifying touchdown runs, one of 52 yards to lead Lone Star to the win.
Michelle McTaggart and Keisha Solomon each caught touchdown passes to round out
the Jager Monsters’ scoring. Ali Amos and McTaggart shared QB duties again with
Amos going 5 of 6 in the passing department with a touchdown toss and two interceptions.
McTaggart was 4 of 4 passing with a touchdown pass as well. Kayleigh ‘Oklahoma’
Jennings led the defence with an interception and a tackle.
For Zulu’s it was the wrong time to
have an off game. Dionne Whittaker was only 5 of 18 passing with two touchdown
passes and two interceptions. Eleanor Barry caught both touchdown passes for
Zulu’s who had too many dropped passes and defensive miscues on the day. Berry
had three tackles to go along with her touchdown catches. Zulu’s record now stands
even at 1 and 1 and they take on Ace Paints and Décor next while Lone Star
Jager Monsters are 2 and 0 and face a tough Hammerheads squad next.
Hammerheads came up against a
motivated Walkers team and ended up on the short End of a 12-8 score. Walkers were
motivated by the fact that their defensive captain Malaqui Awe was playing her
last game for the team as she prepares to head to the Far East. Awe sparked the
defence with five tackles. Cassandra Bodden and Rachelle Peterson both had
touchdown catches for scores for Walkers. Jordana Clarke was steady as always
going 9 of 18 with two touchdown passes. Isatou Sey had a strong two way game
with five tackles on the defensive side and three pass receptions for her
offense. Walkers are 2 and 0 on the year and face Chiro Spa next.
Hammerheads, who scored at will in
their first game, could only muster a single touchdown catch by Alexandria
Terry this week. Bobeth O’Garro had an off day completing only 7 of 19 passes
for the Lady Pirates. Ellen Downey had three tackles for the Hammerhead’s
defence who are now even at 1 and 1 take on Lone Star next.
Ace Paints and Décor looked
impressive in earning their first victory of the year a hard fought 14-6 win
over Andro. Lisa Malice led the way for Ace with two touchdown passes while
going 8 of ten in the passing department. Camille Solomon and Betsy Smith each
had touchdown catches for Ace Paints and Décor. Janique Solomon with five
tackles and Christina ‘Hugh’ Hefner with four led the Ace defense.
For Andro it was another close call
for victory. Andro who fell to 0 and 2 on the year were led by Annice Callaghan
who had a strong two way game recording three tackles for the defence while
catching four passes on the offensive side. Christina McTaggart was 9 of 21
passing with the lone touchdown pass to Jo Richards. Andro play Appleby next
while Ace Paints and Décor take on Zulu’s.
