All teed up to help Red Cross

More than 170 golfers are
registered to participate in the 13th Annual Charitable Golf Tournament that
benefits the Cayman Islands Red Cross. The event is Friday 3 September and will
be held at the North Sound Club with tee-off times at 8am and 1pm. It features
a four-man scramble format with a shotgun start.

“This year’s tournament promises to
be the biggest one we’ve ever held,” said Peter Milburn, past chairman of the
Cayman Islands Red Cross and organiser of the event. “We are grateful to all of
the many participants, sponsors, volunteers and donators.”

“This tournament is one of our
major fund raising events,” said Jondo Obi, branch director of the Cayman
Islands Red Cross. “The event is not only fun for everyone involved, but all of
the funds raised go directly to support the many activities of our local Red

Although the tournament is now
full, the Cayman Islands Red Cross is still appealing to corporate sponsors to
get involved and support this worthy cause. A new tier sponsorship system has
been introduced this year where companies can either be platinum, gold or
silver sponsors (CI$1000, CI$500, & CI$300 respectively).

“As a Platinum tee sponsor,
companies have the exclusive opportunity to display their company banner or
flag on the green for the entire day of the tournament,” said Obi.  “In addition, the company logo will be
displayed on the Red Cross website for a period of one year.”

The tournament offers incredible
prizes, including the chance to win US$10,000 cash, a BMW car, Honda car or
fishing boat for any golfer who gets a hole-in-one at certain holes.

The legendary ‘gold coin’ prize,
donated by 24K-Mon Jewelers, will also be awarded to the golfer with the ball
closest to the pin. There are also special prizes for other categories,
including the player who raises the most funds.

As part of this year’s event, there
is also a unique opportunity to enter a raffle for a one of a kind PGA original
signed RBC golf bag from one of the top European golfers, Luke Donald.

All prizes will be awarded at the
Ceremony with a special barbeque dinner which will be catered by Mise-en Place
who have been long time supporters of the
CI Red Cross.
