Agape on target again

The Agape Family Worship Centre’s
Summer Football Camp culminated with an exciting finals and awards ceremony.

This was the fourth year of the
popular football camp which was organised by William ‘Billy’ Humphreys, a FIFA
referee and head of the sports ministry of the Agape Church with assistance
from many volunteers. The purpose of the camp is to give back to the community
by providing young people with a wholesome and healthy activity during the
summer break.

The camp ran from 31 July to 28
August at the Agape Field. Around 70 children between the ages of six and 16
years participated in the camp each Saturday evening, where they were taught
football basics such as ball control and passing. Coach Humphreys and his
assistant coaches also emphasised the importance of discipline, good
sportsmanship and team spirit.

The final day featured a number of
matches and the high point was the match between the children and the parents.
The awards ceremony was held immediately after the matches and all of the
children received trophies for their participation. Specials awards were also
given for Most Disciplined Player, Most Improved Player and Most Valuable
Player.

The assistant coaches were also
presented with trophies. This year’s coaches were Renda Cornwall, Owen Henry,
Ray Graham, Andre Palmer, Michael Montague, Glendon Fennell, Levi Allen, Junior
Hydes, Joscelyn Morgan and Samson Christie.

Corporate sponsors for the Agape
Summer Football Camp were McCormick Global Ingredients, Cayman National Bank,
National Commercial Bank and Welly’s Cool Spot. Individual sponsors were Kim
Lund, Jennison Nunez, Claude Myles, Andrew Hulse and Ernie and Charmaine
Williams.

The Agape Family Worship Centre
Summer Football Camp is held annually and is open to boys and girls.
