Youth benefit from art sponsorship

The National Gallery of the Cayman
Islands is the beneficiary of an $8,000 donation from Walkers, who have said
they will continue to sponsor Walkers’ Art Club.

The company launched its Children
and the Arts programme in 2004 and has sponsored Walkers’ Art Club since 2005.

The company also announced it will
pledge $20,000 to the [email protected] festival, set for 29 January, 2011.

Students from across the island are
invited to join and are encouraged to make friends with children from all walks
of life, outside the usual group of schoolmates they interact with daily.

Walkers’ Art Club is held Thursdays
from 3.30-4.30pm for children ages 9 to 12. Classes begin on 14 October. Work
created throughout the year by participants will be showcased at next year’s
[email protected] event.
