CITN mourns loss of station manager

Officials with Cayman International
Television Network announce the loss of Frederick “Rick” Alpert. Rick passed
away early Saturday, 2 October, 2010, at the age of 60.

Fifteen years ago, Rick joined the
CITN family relocating from Atlanta to the Cayman Islands. An alumnus of the
NYU film school and multiple Emmy Award winning director and producer, Rick
endeavoured to share his skills and knowledge of broadcast with his team.

He developed and nurtured young
talent leaving his mark on current and future broadcasters in the Cayman

Rick had a passion for broadcast
and advocated using the television medium to benefit the community. He was part
of the creative team for the Young Caymanian Leadership Awards, produced the
post-Ivan “Raising the Roof” telethon, which raised over $2 million for the
National Recovery Fund, and organised Cayman 27’s annual poppy appeal and
awareness campaign benefiting veterans.

Rick had recently returned to
Cayman after surgery in Miami. He is survived by his wife, four children, three
grandchildren, his parents and sister.
