Cydonie Mothersill will arrive home
tonight to a warm reception at the Owen Roberts International Airport, basking
in the glory of her Commonwealth Games gold medal win in Delhi, India.
Mothersill won the 200 metres in
22.89 seconds and put behind her years of frustrating caused by injury which
prevented her from seriously challenging for medals at major competitions
although she did win a bronze at the 2001 World Championships.
Before she left Delhi, Mothersill
said: “It’s been a long, hard season and I’m just looking forward now to
chilling and putting my feet up for the rest of the year. It was my last meet
and I finished on a high. I will go somewhere on vacation and relax.
“I want to thank everybody
for their great support. The response from Cayman has been awesome. I’ve been
getting so many BlackBerry and email messages. It’s great.”
