Blazers aim to dim Stars

Thursday night will feature a
marquee match-up in local netball. With its current powerhouse taking on the
defending champion fans should be in for a real intriguing contest.

At 6.30pm the Frank Hall Homes
Blazers take on the All Stars on the netball courts at the Truman Bodden Sports
Complex. The match is part of the 2010 Cayman Islands Netball Association Mixed
League.

With roughly a month left in the
season, Blazers are the undisputed favourites to win the competition. With a
lethal offence featuring Gavin Watts and Stacey Reid-Satahoo plus an athletic
wing core of Molly-Ann Moore and Kimesha Walters ball possession and offensive
opportunities tend to be in abundance. Arguably the biggest reason why the side
is dangerous is its solid defence featuring stalwart Cynthia Collington and
basketball star Gary ‘Butcher’ McLaughlin. The side has been in first place
throughout the season and has taken down all of the historically top clubs.

One of them has been the All Stars,
who won the league title last year. So far the side has been a third wheel
behind the Blazers and an ever-dangerous Roma. The combination of Ovaine
Monteith and Lyneth Monteith have been in stretches but the offence has lost
some of its lustre. The key components remain in Pauline Bodden and Courtney
Wisdom but for some reason points are hard to come by.
