2 arrested, ammunition recovered

Police arrested two men early Saturday, 16 October, after recovering ammunition in George Town.

Both men were still in police custody on Monday afternoon.

Police said that at about 1.15am they received a report of two men acting suspiciously near Meringue Town on Boilers Road.

Officers who went to the scene saw the men enter a car, which they stopped as the men attempted to drive off.

A police spokesperson said that a search of the occupants, the car and the area surrounding Meringue Town resulted in the recovery of a number of rounds of ammunition.

The men, ages 26 and 39, were arrested on suspicion of possession of an unlicensed firearm.
