Alex’s high five

If Manchester United are seeking a striker to replace the out of form Wayne Rooney, they should look no further than Elite’s Alex Belcher who fired in five in his side’s 7-1 win over Bodden Town.

The match at the TE McField Annex on Sunday was full of incident. Before half-time, Belcher fired in two and Elite missed two penalties, superbly saved by Gary Blake, first against Dwayne ‘Gaza’ Wright and then Derrin Ebanks. Bodden Town were lucky to be only 2-0 down the break although they had lost centre back Luigi Hernandez who was sent off for two yellow cards. With the extra man in the second half Elite were rampant. Belcher smacked in three more and Wright and Elite skipper Rene Carter got the others. Bodden Town’s consolation goal game from Arvid Harris.

In the other match at the same venue, George Town beat Tigers 1-0 thanks once again to Tex Whitelocke finding the net like he did so often last season.

At the Ed Bush Stadium, Roma United were in an entertaining clash with newcomers East End, winning 4-2. Roma goals came from Damalay Howelle, Nickolar Kerr, Adrian Dawkins and Kevin McField. Rico Bodden was the First Division’s top scorer last term and he hit both goals for East End this time.

In the second game in West Bay, the local derby was a typical hard fought affair between Scholars International and Future Sporting Club. Scholars went into the break one up through an Eric Brown goal. An Richard Encuma ‘Bulla’ Brown penalty early in the second half put Scholars two up. Markie Ebanks headed superbly near the end for Future who pressed for an equaliser but the defending champions hung on.
