Marius Acker continued his dominance of the Cayman Islands Triathlon, taking the title for the fifth time in the Olympic event at Public Beach on Sunday. American visitor Ashley Naelon was the female winner. Adrien Royston and Marlene West were the winners in the sprint distance.
The triathlon’s main sponsor this year was Krys & Associates.
This event is one of Cayman’s premier annual sporting events always attracting a strong field of local and international competitors, as well as keen amateurs and many spectators. Three different events were competed for. Besides the Olympic distance of 1500 metre swim, 40km bike, 10 km run the sprint distance was for half that distance and there was a 10k run.
