Two students are getting a taste of life at the top of the world as part of their work experience.
Kaleb Ebanks and Gabriel Solomon are year 11 students at Cayman Prep & High School and spent a week learning about a career in air traffic services with the Cayman Islands Airports Authority.
The pupils were given a brief introduction into the fundamentals of air traffic services and have already experienced a birds-eye view of the island from the air traffic tower, plus they observed the procedures performed by air traffic controllers in the course of their duties.
Learning tool
Senior Air Traffic Controller Robert Harris said that the airports authority has always been a staunch contributor to work experience programmes for the youth of Cayman.
“We recognise the value of a good working relationship with our secondary schools, not just as a learning tool to allow students to get a glimpse of a real-life setting, but also as a recruitment tool to aid the CIAA in attracting the very finest candidates whom otherwise may not have been interested in an aviation-related career,” said Mr. Harris.
