Christmas cheer is here and in ample supply at Camana Bay right through the festive season. With twinkling lights, activities for all the family and surprises around every corner, the Camana Bay area is a Caribbean-style winter wonderland for sightseers and shoppers. A schedule of events promises plenty to surprise, bedazzle and delight.
A taster of things to come
Friday, 3 December – Drop & Shop: Kids’ Crafts, 5.30-7.30pm
Enjoy the opportunity to prepare for the holidays while your children are engaged in exciting and fun-filled Christmas crafts. Parents can drop their children off on Market Street for up to two hours of supervised crafts while they do their Christmas shopping. This service is presented by Articulate and Camana Bay for children ages 5-12. Please ensure children are dressed in clothes suitable for art activities or that they bring an apron as they will be working with paint and glue. Space is limited and there is no pre-registration, so please arrive on time to avoid disappointment. A $10 suggested donation will go toward the Girls and Boys Home. Bring a Camana Bay receipt with you when you pick up your child and receive half of your donation back.
Saturday, 4 December – Cayman Hospice Care: Light Up A Life, 5.30-7pm
Reflect on your lost loved ones at the second annual Light Up a Life Ceremony of Remembrance. Light up a Life remembrance-and-tree-lighting ceremonies are free and open to the public. Attendees may honour or memorialise a loved one by placing individual lights on the Cayman Hospice community memorial.
Saturday, 4 December – Barnes Christmas Parade, 5:45-7pm
Barnes Dance Academy will present their 6th Annual Community Christmas Parade on The Crescent at Camana Bay. A singing and dancing extravaganza; participants will include George Town Primary School, Barnes Dance Academy, Dance Unlimited, Montessori by the Sea, Purple Dragon and finalists from this year’s Cayman Got Talent competition. Prepare to be entertained!
Tuesday, 7 December – Santa Photos, 6-8pm
Children and parents alike are invited to have their photos taken with Santa on The Crescent by the photographers at Creations Unlimited. Photos will be available for purchase. (Next to the 30-foot Christmas Tree).
Tuesday, 7 December – Holiday Fashion Show and Gift-Giving Display, 6-8pm
Join the event on The Crescent as Cayman 27 broadcasts their 27 Days of Christmas show live. Guests will be treated to a fashion show featuring designs from NKY, NKY Collections, The Jean Bar, Soles, The Cabana and Sand Angels. In addition to wearing this season’s hottest fashion trends, the models will be show off jewellery and accessories from The Mansion and Watch.Me, plus hair and make up tricks from Eclipze and Le Visage. The gift-giving display will feature gift ideas for under $25, $50 and $75.
Wednesday, 8 December – Christmas Evening Market, 3.30-8pm
The popular weekly Market at the Grounds, which takes place every Saturday at the Grounds in Lower Valley, will set up for the Christmas Evening Market on Market Street with over 20 vendors. Local produce, native plants, handicrafts and live music will make this a great family event. Kids will love the Santa photos and kids crafts.

Saturday, 11 December – Parade of Lights, 5-8.30pm
One of Cayman’s most popular events is back. The Cayman 27 Parade of Lights will be a Christmas wonderland for all to enjoy. Marvel at the passing parade in The Harbour. Boats of all shapes and sizes will be adorned in brightly coloured lights as they parade past the spectators gathered along The Crescent. A Christmas craft market will feature great gift ideas, traditional Christmas carols will be performed by a Christmas choir – and kids of all ages will enjoy a very special guest appearance from Father Christmas.

Moonlight & Movies Series, 7pm
With blankets laid out under the stars on the lawn in Gardenia Court, children of all ages can enjoy classic Christmas movies on a giant screen.

Can it be? Snow in the Cayman Islands? When children believe in the magic of Christmas, anything can happen. A winter wonderland will be created in the town centre at Camana Bay through select nights during the holiday season. Bring your kids down to see the look of joy and wonder on their faces as they witness magical snowflakes falling among the festive backdrop of Camana Bay. Our North Pole weather correspondent has predicted snow to fall for the children to frolic on the following nights in December from 6-8pm: 3,4,7,8, 10, 11, 14, 17 and 18.
