North Side have coveted top spot

North Side Football Club still leads in the point standings of the Cayman Islands Football Association 2010-2011 Foster’s Division One League with 19 points after conquering Cayman Athletic Sports Club 2-1 at home last Saturday.

Meanwhile, at the TE McField Annex, Academy drew 1-1 with Latinos. The other game between Sunset and George Town B which should have been played at this venue was postponed.

It was the Ernie ‘Gillie’ Seymour coached Cayman Athletic that took the lead in the 8th minute with a goal from Statan Clarke.

In the second half North Side regrouped and made their presence felt equalising in the 56th minute. The game became very physical as both teams battled for the decisive act.

In the 86th minute Cayman Athletic made a defensive error, North Side capitalised on that opportunity and with a strike from Eric Russell.

At the TE McField Sports Centre it was Latinos who drew first blood when Dimion Sosa netted in the 24th minute. After the start of the second segment Academy decided that they would have none of that and fought with good intentions until in the 80th minute when Emmanuel Brown placed one past goal keeper Alexis Reve.

Academy Football Club are in second place with 15 points followed by Sunset, who have 13 points. Latinos and Cayman Athletic Sports Club share 11 points each. Scholars International “B” have five points, Prospect and Elite “B” are on four each while George Town “B” and Bodden Town “B” trail with three.
