Military aircraft lands

In a statement released to the
media, the Cayman Islands Airports Authority confirmed that at 11:27am on
Sunday, 23January, a military aircraft with approximately 34 people onboard
made an emergency landing at Owen Roberts International Airport on Grand
Cayman.

All airport emergency services were
deployed in accordance with Air Traffic Control notification procedures and the
aircraft landed safely without incident, said the authority.

The authority did not comment on
local media reports over the weekend which had suggested that the craft
originated in Suriname or that it was said to have French Marines on board.
