2011 is year of V10

Ten years on, Vibe 98.9 FM invites the people of the Cayman Islands to join them on a ride toward the future of urban music entertainment.

Vibe will celebrate a brand new look, image, sound and talent roster with the same great vision of raising the bar of broadcast and entertainment in the Cayman Islands.

For the past couple of months, the dynamic team at Vibe 98.9 FM have been working feverishly to execute the perfect re-branding campaign, which complements the new goal and mission.

“As the times change, and generations grow older, our core market has expanded and transitioned into an entire new model. Just like the evolution of the music industry there is no longer a set way of marketing music, the entertainment industry is a great melting pot of different music genres, cultures and commercialism. Ever changing the music industry requires radio stations to adapt as rapidly as they evolve.

“Simply put, consumers just want their music how and when they like it…right away and Vibe is going to give our market what they want!” said Managing Director Kenny Rankin.

Launches on Monday

On Monday, 14 February, Cayman airwaves will come alive again with the addition of an exciting new talent roster. Vibe 98.9 FM has pulled off the unthinkable and completely restructured its on-air schedule to include 16 new exciting radio shows, all hosted by a star-studded team of 14 new Vibe Jockeys dubbed by the playful acronym, VJ.

“We listened to the people and we were honest with ourselves. Then we formed a strong campaign team to really execute a plan where we could build on our brand and still please our loyal listeners. We needed to concentrate on filling the gaps in the on air schedule with structured shows as opposed to just music.

“We brainstormed ways to have the listeners fall in love with the production of an entire show that is carefully branded to suit the individual needs of each demographic segments, yet serving the needs of the station and target market on a whole. Our goal was to make good urban radio and I think we did it, there is going to be a show for everyone!” said Program Director Aaron Solomon.

The VJs

The new VJ’s below have all been working together as a team, preparing for their big debut on the airwaves: Atom Skillz; Scatta; Docta; Rik Rok; Flex; TNT; Marz; Neil Sam; Banny “The Connoisseur”; Festa; M; and Rush.

  1. Ill be disappointed as I will no longer be able to tune into the DJs that I like as they are no longer part of this restructuring…and they were more popular than any of the Djs listed above or excuse me VJs

  2. The brand looks great in todays Compass and the schedule looks hot! It definitely needed a reshuffle of talent and new talent coming in! Well done to VIBE for shaking things up!
