Cruise giant Royal Caribbean has confirmed it has signed a letter of intent to build at least one new cruise ship.
Dubbed Project Sunshine, the new class of ship will be built by Meyer Werft in Germany and have a capacity of 4,100 passengers. Delivery of the first 158,000 ton vessel will be in the autumn of 2014, with an option of another for spring, 2015.
Chief executive officer Richard Fain said in a statement that the new generation of ships ‘will not disappoint’.
“It will offer features for everyone, from grand, spectacular spaces to small intimate settings; from active, invigorating activities to the serenity of more personal space; and from a plethora of dining alternatives to a cornucopia of opportunities for families.”
