Butterfield adds to asset management

Butterfield has announced the appointments of Dennis Govan as head of asset management in the Caribbean and Michael Neff, executive vice president and head of group asset management in Bermuda.

Mr. Govan has more than 30 years’ international financial services experience in investment banking and wealth management. He joined Butterfield in August 2009 as head of investment management in the Bahamas to launch a start-up private client investment business.

Mr. Neff brings 25 years’ experience in wealth management and business development functions. After starting his career with Chemical Bank’s Private Client Banking Group and Citibank, he established AnswerSpace Inc, a CRM and financial planning consultancy, in 1998.

In 2001, he founded Monetaire Inc., a leading provider of financial planning and advice software that was acquired by RiskMetrics Group in 2004.

At RiskMetrics, he served as global head of Wealth Management, global head of Client Implementations, global head of Client Services and co-head of Global Business Risk.

As head of Butterfield Asset Management in Bermuda, Mr. Neff has overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the Butterfield group’s portfolio/fund management, discretionary management and research functions across Bermuda, Cayman, Guernsey and the United Kingdom.
