Adam “Tony” Rankin has been appointed general manager of Hurley’s Marketplace Grand Harbour. He succeeds Raul Mena, who was general manager for the past five years and has returned to his home in Costa Rica.
Mr. Rankin started work at Hurley’s Eden Centre, Walkers Road in 1993 as a stocker/warehouse associate. In 1996 he was promoted from night manager to assistant manager to Manager Billy Preston.
In 1998, Mr. Rankin became manager of the Eden Centre store.
During Hurricane Iris, Mr. Rankin and his staff were commended on their performance during the crisis in October 2001. In 2004 when Hurricane Ivan struck, Adam and his staff worked diligently to get the Eden Centre store back for its customers.
They succeeded, but unfortunately the store had to be demolished. Mr. Rankin and his staff were transferred to Hurley’s Marketplace Grand Harbour where they were needed to help in the aftermath of the hurricane.
Mr. Rankin has continued to strive to keep Hurley’s Marketplace a success, according to K. Leonie Ebanks of Hurley’s Grand Harbour Ltd, and has performed his tasks with knowledge and skill.
