Tourism board nominations sought

The Cayman Islands Tourism
Association has announced the date of its Annual General Meeting.

The AGM takes place at The Marriott
Grand Cayman Beach Resort on Thursday, 14 April, from 3.30pm to 5.30pm and is a
chance for tourism association members to get together for a review of the year
plus financial performance and industry updates.

There will also be the election of
a new board of directors, which comprises a maximum of 14 people. The organisation
is seeking nominations for representatives in the following sectors: hotels
(two directors), restaurants and nightclubs (two directors), tourism transport
operators/airlines (two directors), condominiums, watersports operators, Sister
Islands, cruise plus allied members and land based attractions.

The board comprised 13 directors in
2010. Rod McDowall, Hugh Treadwell and Tom McCallum stay on to fulfil a second
term in 2011 having received the highest votes at the 2010 AGM, providing
continuity.

The association celebrates its 10th
anniversary on Thursday, 31 March, which is also the due date for membership
renewal payments. There will also be a watersports meeting on Wednesday, 16
March, at Lone Star.

The association represents around
200 tourism-related businesses across all sectors in areas including industry
and government relations, marketing and events, industry development and
education.
