Thus far March has proven to be a remarkably bad month for fishing tournaments. Time will tell if the waters prove safe enough for the next proposed event.
The annual Rooster Shootout fishing tournament is slated to take place this weekend. The competition was postponed from last weekend reportedly due to rough seas.
Radio station Rooster 101.9FM is the title sponsor for the tournament. On its website this week the entity released a brief statement about the delay which read, “The Rooster Shootout has been moved to 25-27 March due to weather concerns.
Weigh stations will be open this weekend at 4pm in Grand Harbour.”
Last year’s tournament saw 163 anglers and 63 fish caught. The event attracted a number of fishing enthusiasts including Rudolph Dixon.
News of the Rooster Shootout delay comes after the 2011 Cayman Swordfish Challenge was postponed. It was originally to be held 9 March but instead is planned for 9 April.
