Ecuador was tough for all

The boxing team that went to the Pan American trials in Ecuador failed to record a victory but at least they all experienced high level tournament action.

The fact that the tournament was around 9,000 feet above sea level did not help because the lack of oxygen tired them so quickly. Kendall Ebanks lost his light-welter bout on points to an Ecuadorian, Dariel Ebanks fought at heavyweight and lost closely on points to a Barbadian, Jason Parchment was stopped in the first round against a Cuban at welter and Jessica McFarlane-Richards was outpointed at lightweight against a girl from Venezuela. Tracey Seymour was on the trip but she did not get matched. Head coach was Donie Anglin and the other coach was Troy O’Neil.

Next activity for the boxers is that they might get matched on the white collar show at Margaritaville on 28 May. There is a planned trip to New York in mid-June and some of them may go to the third and final Pan American trials in July.
