No need for doggie bags

During June, all proceeds from dog-friendly brunch benefit spay and neuter programme

It is not often that your dog can join you for Sunday brunch. In fact, it is generally frowned upon, what with the panting and drooling.

However, at Ortanique in Camana Bay, they actually encourage bringing your canine companion along to their Paws for Brunch event on Sundays. Dogs are not only welcome, but even get to join in the feast with a special three-course brunch menu just for them, while the deck is the perfect spot to spend some quality time with family, friends and your pampered pooch.

Every Sunday in June, Ortanique will donate 5 per cent of the proceeds from the brunch to Cayman Animal Rescue Enthusiasts.

“It’s a wonderful break for dog parents to be able to go out together as a family. There are not many places on Island that are pet friendly,” says Lesley Agostinelli, a volunteer with CARE.

PAWS for brunch will take place from 11am to 3pm on 5, 12, 19 and 26 June.

The funds raised through the event will go toward assisting CARE with its community spay and neuter programme.

“We need all the help we can get and we need everyone to come together to help promote spay and neuter. As we keep saying, we can not adopt our way out of this problem and nor can we support the huge numbers of accidental litters, strays and family pets that continue to be born. “We are a small island and we should be able to end this suffering and eradicate this problem of pet overpopulation that so sadly exists,” says Ms Agostinelli.
