On Saturday, 18 June, the Annual Cayman Night Party will be held at the Carl Parker Center in Port Arthur, Texas.
The event began 25 years ago and is a gathering of Caymanians who live in the Texas, Louisiana, the Bay Islands and Grand Cayman. Intermingled among them are a mix of Cayman fans who simply want an evening of reminiscing about their past vacation to the islands.
Cayman-style food, such as rice and peas, stewed conch and patties are on the menu, while attendees dance to island rhythms, usually donning flowered shirts and sandals.
Music is provided by The Barefoot Man, Sea n B and Andy “Cayman Cowboy” Martin. Andy spices up the evening with his sea-shanty tearjerkers and hometown classics, such as Cayman Cowboy and Back to the Brac Again.
“It’s simply a large family gathering where people chit-chat, exchange old photos and dance to our music,” he says.
