Butterfield welcomes new head of corporate banking

Butterfield announced the appointment of Graeme Skinner as senior manager and head of Corporate Banking.

Mr. Skinner will be responsible for the Bank’s Corporate and Commercial Banking client relationships and business development, in Cayman and the Caribbean region.

The Butterfield Corporate Banking team focuses on managing overall banking relationships with the complete range of corporate and commercial entities operating in Cayman – from local small businesses and family-owned companies to international groups and institutional clients.

Deputy Managing Director and Executive Vice President, Banking Mike McWatt emphasised the vital role that the corporate banking sector plays in the banking industry, both at Butterfield and in Cayman as a whole. “Corporate and Commercial Banking clients form an integral driver in the financial services industry and, at Butterfield, we are dedicated to the development of that sector. We welcome Graeme’s extensive experience and look forward to a continued offering of personalised corporate banking service in Cayman and the Caribbean.”

Mr. Skinner joined Butterfield in 2006 as vice president, Corporate Banking in Bermuda. Prior to that, he spent 26 years with another major financial services institution, which included five years as head of Corporate Banking and deputy country head in Cayman. He has a Master of Arts degree from Cambridge University in the UK and is an Associate of the Chartered Institution of Bankers.

In addition to leading a team of five Corporate Banking relationship managers and a dedicated corporate client support group, Graeme will also manage a portfolio of key corporate customer relationships. The Butterfield corporate team includes experienced lenders with strong credit-based client relationships and Butterfield is also a financial services provider to the captive insurance industry, but Graeme believes there is scope to expand the Bank’s reach to a wider corporate client base.

“It’s great to be back in Cayman,” stated Mr. Skinner. “Butterfield has a strong team of people here serving our clients’ needs. As with anything, balance, flexibility and creativity are key parts of the banker-client relationship, along with service delivery. There is huge potential for growth, and I look forward to working with our corporate and commercial clients new and old. I’m always pleased to hear from customers.”
