Triple gold at Island Games

It took a while to come but the Cayman Islands team finally struck gold at the NatWest Island Games in the Isle of Wight.

Three gold medals were won on Wednesday, by squash player Caroline Heal, the men’s tennis team and Carl Morgan in the long jump. Morgan has shown brilliant early season form and could be in contention for a medal at the Pan American Games in Mexico in October.

The competition involves small island states, including several British dependent territories, none of which can have a population over 125,000.

The silver medallists are Robert Ibeh (men’s 200m sprint), Michael Letterlough (men’s hammer throw), Lara Butler (women’s 100m butterfly).

The bronze medallists are Junior Hines (men’s 400m hurdles), the squash team and Joel Rombough (men’s 200m butterfly, men’s 200m individual medley, men’s 400m individual medley).
