Kerrylyn Ebanks enters almost every Cayman Free Press sponsored competition she sees online.
Her efforts paid off this week when her name was drawn as the lucky winner of the Cayman Fashion Solstice Competition.
It is her 14-year-old daughter who is the real fashionista of the family and wanted to go to the series of fashion-related events organised by Guavaberry Marketing, but her mother told her she was too young.
Instead, her mother entered the competition and thought no more about it.
In the run up to the main event, which runs from 19 to 23 October, there will be a series of related events. The first of these, the launch party, took place on June 25 at Tikki Beach. It was there that the prize draw took place.
The prize is a weekend for two at the Summer Sizzle Virgin Islands – Global glamour in St Thomas, US Virgin Islands.
“This is a great event in a beautiful part of the Caribbean. It will be something of a preview for what our October Fashion Solstice is all about,” said Cindy Rosan-Jones, managing partner of Guavaberry Marketing, organisers of the Cayman Fashion Solstice.
The prize includes hotel accommodations, ground transportation to and from the airport and to all fashion events during the course of the weekend.
Although she is sure her daughter would have loved to spend the weekend in the Virgin Islands, she has summer camp commitments here, her mother said. Instead, Mrs Ebanks will take her best friend with her.
“It’s wonderful to have won,” she said. “It will be so great to go somewhere new and different.”
Cayman Fashion Solstice, now in its second year, consists of five days of fashion galas, casting calls and festivities.
“There will be many highlights throughout the weekend as we want to ensure an extraordinary time is had by everyone. There will be two different fashion events, private dinner round tables, boating excursions, fabulous soirees, pop up shops, trunk shows and island tours,” Ms. Rosan-Jones said.
