Blessings were in abundance for the Lions’ “family” as they started their new year of activities recently by taking part in a service at St. George’s Anglican Church in George Town.
Newly installed officers, members of the Lions and Leo clubs, family, friends and well-wishers gathered to worship and pray for blessings and support.
Archdeacon Hollis Lynch, led the service, and Lion President Belinda Blessitt Vincent and First Vice President Nereen Thomas read the first two lessons.
Love and Commitment with Passion was the theme of the sermon, which Lions Club members said tied in perfectly with their president’s theme of Passionate Members Working Together for a Better Community.
Mr. Lynch reminded those in attendance that charity begins at home and encouraged the Lions to start Christian life and service at home.
He told the congregation that when they allow God to use them to serve, their lives get richer and they have nothing to worry about.
“Learn to let go and Let God”, he said. He encouraged the Lions to maintain family values, and he gave several biblical examples of people who were called upon to serve and the rewards they received when they committed themselves to God’s will.
He then blessed the incoming board for 2011/12. Ms Vincent highlighted her main goals for the year, including continued partnership with St. George’s, and she invited the congregation to visit the club and participate in activities and projects.
