The Frank Hall Homes Blazers will have to wait a bit to repeat success in local netball.
The co-ed side will have the spotlight next month for the start of the 2011 Mixed League. Put on by the Cayman Islands Netball Association, games are slated to begin 3 September.
Frank Hall Homes are the reigning champions after claiming the title last year. The Blazers were guided by a collection of netball figures such as Stacy Reid-Satahoo, Molly-Ann Moore and Cynthia Collington. There was also an impressive array of male talent featuring basketball star Gary ‘Butcher’ McLaughlin, flag football player Richard Allen and veteran mixed league participant Gavin Watts.
Association secretary Norma Ferryman states the league has a set format for matches at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex netball courts.
“Cayman netball is rearing to go this season and we wish for the public to partner with us,” Ferryman said. “The registration deadline for the mixed league is Saturday 27 August. Games will be Thursdays and Saturdays at 6.30pm.
“Teams will be seven-a-side with a minimum of three men on the roster and a maximum of 12 players to each squad. Men can play one of three positions: Goal Shooter, Goal Keeper and Centre.”
