A popular summer event is about to launch on Monday 15 August.
The annual FC International summer football camps are starting this week. The first one runs 15-19 August at the TE McField Sports Centre (known as the Annex) in George Town. The camp will run 8.30am to roughly 1pm. The targeted group is boys and girls aged 6-16.
Overseeing the children will be camp director Elbert McLean and staff, who will put on drills focusing on football basics. The completely free camp sees registration taking place at the start of the camp.
This year’s guest speakers are businessmen Renard Moxam and Lenny Hew, Director of Northward Prison Dwight Scott and George Town MLA Ellio Solomon. After the George Town gathering will be a North Side camp 22-26 August. Old Man Bay playfield will serve as the venue. The annual Lighthouse camp is set for September,
Club president Kennedy Ebanks states the camp will be a good occasion for local youth.
“The public can expect a good time for the kids,” Ebanks said. “They will learn about football from coach Elbert while being informed about other areas of life by our guest speakers. The young people are our future and at FC International they are our constant focus. Through these totally free camps we aim to continue being a community-minded football organization.”
