Fresh faces in Jetik Building; Hospital Road Plaza growing

The empty space in the Jetik Building will soon be filled by a new business tenant.  

Meanwhile, occupancy is filling up in the new Hospital Road Plaza building nearby. 

After 30 years of anchoring the Jetik Building, The No. 1 Shoe Shop and related businesses have moved around the corner to the new Hospital Road Plaza building.  

Construction on the 14,400-square-foot Hospital Road Plaza, located at 62 Hospital Road, began in September 2010, owner Karen Goddard said. 

Mrs. Goddard said she and husband Ishmel had been operating The No. 1 Shoe Shop out of the Jetik Building, located at 12 Walkers Road, since July 1981. A new tenant, whose identity Mrs. Goddard did not wish to disclose, is scheduled to move into the now-vacant space on the ground floor of the two-storey Jetik Building in October or November. 

Existing tenants in the approximately 8,000-square-foot Jetik Building include Cayman Echoic Services and Translation, Escape Hair Salon, and Modern Language Institute and Tutoring Services. 

The ground floor of Hospital Road Plaza building is occupied by The No. 1 Shoe Shop, The No. 1 Sport Shop, The No. 1 Shoe Repair – all formerly in the Jetik Building – and Sport N Zone, relocating from Bayshore Mall on South Church Street. 

The top floor of the two-storey Hospital Road Plaza building consists of five suites, one of which will soon be occupied by a spa.  

Mrs. Goddard said the four remaining suites are available for rent for office or commercial purposes, so long as they do not duplicate existing services already in the building.
