Every one of the 10 contestants in this year’s War on Weight competition lost weight for the first weigh-in of the challenge. Organisers said this was the first time in the contest’s four-year history that has happened. Between them, the competitors have lost 58.1 pounds. The competitors have completed their second week of exercise and dieting, in which they underwent some gruelling workout sessions, as well as some medical checks to ensure they were all doing fine.
They took part in four days of early morning boot camp with Ernest Ebanks from Body Sculptor during the week and started their weekend on Saturday with an hour-long workout with Jen Bily of Life Extension Sports and Fitness, which focused on low impact core body strengthening with short bursts of cardio workout movements.
“Week two of boot camp was awesome and thankfully I’m not as sore,” said contestant Lakiva Ebanks. “The workouts felt great and I’m actually starting to get the hang of it. Jen Bily is a rock star. She is amazing and so is the ‘Work It Wow’ class she designed for us.”
On Thursday evening of week two, the contestants had their first weigh-in with dietician Chad Collins and the contestant with the biggest loss was Tunisia Barnes, who shed 9.6 pounds.
In its first three years, War on Weight, which is organised by the Cayman Heart Fund, has helped 30 contestants lose more than 800 pounds. War on Weight runs until mid-December.
