Bodden Town folks show off their talent

Once again, Cayman’s vast and varied talent is shining on stage.

In a series of events for the ultimate grand finals on 29 October, district residents of all ages have been auditioning for Cayman’s Got Talent, produced by Noel Smith’s Nolly Brown Entertainment.

Most recently, auditions were held last Saturday night in Bodden Town-Newlands.

The auditions begins to heat up with Bodden Town putting forward thir five best contestants for the pre-finals, says Smith, who added that the judges were very impressed by the talent.

Arron Christian, among the evening’s winners, sang crowd favourite Redemption Song by Bob Marley. Andrianna Rankine came on stage singing Knock You Down by Keri Hilson, scoring the second-highest number of points.

It was Orvin Palacio singing his solo It Hurts So Hard to Say Goodbye who took first place points honours.

Meanwhile, Giselle Scott earned a winning nod for her rendition of Sky Scraper by Demi Lovato. Smith says the judges though she had such a sweet voice as she was the youngest person at the audition so far.

Another winner, Mercita Dunkley, charmed the crowd with Wing Beneath My Wings by Bette Meddler. Dunkley, who was one of the committee members last year, decided to compete this year herself.

East End

Winner for East End district auditions, held on Saturday, 3 September, was Samantha Gourzong.

Samantha, who sang Honey I’m Home by Shania Twain. Miss Gourzong, made it to the finals of last year’s Cayman’s Got Talent. She said she decided to enter again this year because she feels she is a lot stronger as a singer and feel she may even win this year, Smith says.

Though North Side auditions were scheduled for 10 September, unfortunately there were no winners due to lack of entries, Smith said.
