Harry’s let Wanderers back in

The top two teams in the Heineken Sunday League clashed last weekend at Ed Bush when second in the table Harry’s FC hosted top place Triple Crown Wanderers. Going into the match they were the only two sides who could boast of an undefeated start to the season and after the match that statistic remained.

Harry’s went ahead on 21 minutes when a deflected cross fell kindly into the path of Floyd McKenzie who was presented from two yards with an open goal. Being one down stung Wanderers into action and from a short free-kick down the right side of the Harry’s box Wanderers captain Seba Mena rifled a stinging shot into the far corner of the net to tie the scores

Sitting with three losses from their first three games of the season, a change in management brought an immediate impact for MC Devils who picked up their first points with a 1-1 draw against CML Claymores. Kenzo Kennedy was installed as Devils temporary manager at a hastily arranged annual general meeting. It worked. Dave Holland laid on for James Plowright to score in the 12th minute. Then Chris Turrell equalised for the Claymores nine minutes later.

Boca Juniors enjoyed a 2-0 win against Prison to jump over Harry’s into second place. Henry Mitchell claiming his fifth goal of the season after 13 minutes and Carlos Welcome hit the other early in the second half.

Long term adversaries Old Boys and Agua FC fought a feisty encounter at Ed Bush. Agua’s De Riso hit a penalty after 31 minutes then Paul Blenkinsop got their second against his former club to seal the win.
