Chamber offering human resources compliance course

The Chamber’s Professional Development & Training Centre has added Mario Ebanks to its team of instructors and will be presenting a two-part course on “Human Resources Compliance Fundamentals – The Employment Contract & Employee Policies Handbook”.

The first part of this course is scheduled for Friday, 2 December, 2011, with Part 2 following on Friday, 12 December, 2011, at the Chamber of Commerce in Governors Square.

Mario Ebanks, senior consultant and project leader at Premier HR Management Solutions, will facilitate the course.

“In our very competitive labour market, employers have to keep current with ‘best practices’ in order to attract and retain talent. Knowing how to prepare a concise but legally compliant employment contract, as well as developing an informative and user-friendly employee handbook are two effective tools which business owners and/or human resources managers can use to retain talent and also to avoid disputes and legal exposure. This course will provide attendees with the fundamentals on these two important areas,” Mr Ebanks said.

The chamber said attendees of this human resources compliance course will appreciate the legislative mandate for employment contracts and penalties for noncompliance, be exposed to the various standard clauses and provisions of contracts and gain confidence in preparing and amending contract documents.

In the second part of the course attendees will work on developing their own contract and handbook frameworks. The course is geared towards persons who have been in an HR role for at least one year.
