Early birds walk off with prizes

Three local tennis fans were the winners of the KPMG Legends Tennis Championships early bird competition.

Celia Paz Gomez and Rebecca Calvert each won a set of return tickets to New York on board Cayman Airways, while Lindsay Bridgeman won an Apple iPad 2. All they had to do to win was purchase tickets to the event on

The winners were presented with their prizes by Mike Ryan of The Residences at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, Paul Tibbetts of Cayman Airways and event organiser Dan Kneipp.

According to Ms Gomez, who said Martina Hingis is one of her favourite players, she was very surprised by her win.

“I bought a ticket and then I was surprised when I received an email that I had won airfare to New York,” she said.

Ms Bridgeman was equally surprised by her win, as she had been motivated to buy tickets early by her love of tennis.

“I got my tickets for the Legends and next thing I knew I received an email saying I had won the early bird draw, so I was delighted,” she said. “I play a couple of times a week and I love watching professional tennis.”

The competition was sponsored by KPMG, Cayman Financial Review, The Residences at the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, Cayman Airways and the Cayman Mac Store.
