Silver, gold, red and green are the traditional Christmas colours, but this Friday Blue is where Christmas will shine.
Chef Eric Ripert, whose restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman is the only five-diamond restaurant in the Cayman Islands, will cap his week-long stay here by hosting a dinner called ‘Blue Christmas’.
Guests will indulge in a delicious canapé followed by a six-course meal and have the option of pairing their food with wine selected for each of the courses. They’ll also get to spend time talking to Mr. Ripert, who came to fame at Manhattan’s Le Bernardin restaurant. Known as “The Temple of Seafood”, Le Bernardin is consistently rated not only one of the best restaurants in the United States, but also the world.
In addition to spending some times mingling with guests that night, Mr. Ripert will also sign copies of his cookbooks for those looking for a special holiday gift.
Mr. Ripert said he was grateful that Grand Cayman residents have been such strong supporters of Blue since it opened.
“This year, as we near our sixth anniversary, it is important for me to spend time in the restaurant and ensure we are doing everything we can to deliver memorable dining experiences to locals every time they join us,” he said. “With Blue Christmas we’ll present a few new menu items while celebrating the Le Bernardin inspired classics that can be found nowhere else on the island.”
The menu will offer courses such as foie gras terrine with black truffle, spiced bread and port cherries; local tuna tartar with watermelon-tomato gazpacho and Israeli caviar; and grilled snapper with peperonatta and Spanish Sofrito sauce.
The fourth course will offer a choice of grilled escolar or, for the meat lover, seared prime rib eye.
Blue Manager Martin Hoetzl said everyone at the restaurant was thrilled to celebrate the holiday season during Friday’s event.
“Blue Christmas is an incomparable holiday dining opportunity for Cayman,” he said. “To not only have Chef Eric in the kitchen with our Blue team, but to actually meet him firsthand will surely create a unforgettable experience for our guests.”
The Blue Christmas experience costs $150 per person and the wine pairing is available for $100 per person. Both prices are exclusive of gratuities.
