Italian legends to coach here

Three of the greatest footballers Italy has ever produced are coming here next week for a kids soccer camp.

Gianfranco Zola, Daniele Massaro and Pierluigi Casiraghi are the legendary players coming to the Cayman Islands.

It’s all done by Digicel is pleased and the fab trio will host the Italian Pro Youth Soccer Camp. Digicel’s Victor Corcoran, Digicel’s Chief Executive Officer in Cayman, said: “This event marks a giant step towards elevating the game at the youth level and this is the first camp hosted by these legends for our youth in the Cayman Islands.

“Digicel is committed to the development of football at all levels. Digicel invests in football in Cayman through support of Cayman Islands Football Association, support of the national team, the Digicel Cayman Cup and the Digicel Caribbean Cup as well as lots of youth camps. We’re delighted to create this spring-board for our Under-13, 15 and 17 groups of young, talented footballers.”

This camp represents possibly a once in a lifetime opportunity for local youths. Digicel are grateful to Marcelo Santi and the Academy Sports Club in organising this historic event.

The soccer camps are add ons to the Audemars Piguet Golf invitational organised by Santi.

The clinics are at the Academy Field. The U13-U15 camp runs on Thursday 15 December from 3pm—6pm. It will be a priceless opportunity for the best youth players in Cayman to receive coaching from Zola and Massaro. Camp t-shirt and ball for every registered player. Registration is free, with only 120 spaces available.

Zola played for clubs like Napoli, Parma and Chelsea with distinction. Zola was voted Chelsea’s best ever player. Before his recent retirement he was the manager of West Ham United for two years.

Massaro was part of the World Cup winning Italian team in 1982. He spent six years at AC Milan (1989—95) and currently works in public relations at AC Milan. Casiraghi, another international, played for great teams like Juventus, Lazio and Chelsea and is currently head coach of the Italian U21s.

HOW TO REGISTER:

• We will provide a camp t-shirt and ball for every registered player.

• Registration is free, with only 120 spaces available.

• Each CIFA U17 team is asked to forward the names of their top 3 players interested in participating.
