The winner of the Young Caymanian Leadership Awards will be announced 3 March at the annual Gala Awards night at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman.
The five finalists will be revealed early in the new year. The Awards programme began in 1999, with five finalists announced each year (except for 2005 following Hurricane Ivan) from nominations received from the community.
“The YCLA alumni share a common interest – they each have a deep and sincere passion for what they do and it energises them to consistently move forward in their efforts,” said 2011 Award recipient Natalie Urquhart, director/curator of the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands, according to a news release.
“Yet again we have received some outstanding nominations identifying another impressive group of candidates for this year’s YCLA. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the community for their efforts in sharing these nominations and taking the time to recognise our young leaders,” said Young Caymanian Leadership Foundation Coordinator Melissa Wolfe.
The Awards show will be televised on Cayman27 during a live one-hour broadcast. Event partners are Television Centre, Celebrations and The Ritz-Carlton.
In 2011, Mrs. Urquhart has been delivering speeches to public and private school students.
“My own platform has been about using creativity and innovation to excel in this rapidly changing world, encouraging our students to expand their mindset, choose new career streams and to not be afraid to follow their hearts,” she said.
