One of the big movers this offseason in pro hoops is Chris Paul.
With his trade from the New Orleans Hornets to the Los Angeles Clippers, Paul has focused much of the spotlight on California. Preseason basketball means little but based on his recent outing against the Lakers, the Clippers should be a fun team to watch.
Proof of that will be seen in their season opener on Christmas Day. Paul teams up with Blake Griffin on Sunday, 25 December, against the Golden State Warriors at 10.30pm. The contest promises to be a high-scoring affair. Fans should see Paul feeding Griffin with alley-oops and taking over portions of the game.
Aside from the Clippers-Warriors game, Christmas Day features a host of other entertaining match-ups. While the National Basketball Association was long and painful, it pales in comparison to the grief LeBron James has taken since his Finals debacle last season. He will have a shot at some redemption as his Miami Heat faces the 2011 champions Dallas Mavericks at 2.30pm.
From there the Chicago Bulls face the Lakers at 8pm. Last season’s Most Valuable Player Derrick Rose looks ready for another strong year while the Lakers sport an angry and healthy Kobe Bryant.
The day’s other games see the New York Knicks facing the Boston Celtics at 12noon and the Oklahoma City Thunder hosting the Orlando Magic at 8pm.
