Deputy Premier and Minister for District Administration, Works, Lands and Agriculture Juliana O’Connor-Connolly began the year by speaking at the local chapter of Aglow International on Saturday, 7 January.
The meeting, themed ‘Salvation and Recommitment’, was held at the South Sound Community Centre in Grand Cayman. The deputy premier encouraged those in attendance “to live as Jesus would have us live.”
She said: “God’s love binds us together and these islands need churches to strengthen the community and its citizens.”
Ms O’Connor-Connolly encouraged Christians to minister to everyone in community.
“We cannot afford to be closet Christians. Sometimes people become so heavenly-bound that they are no earthy good,” she said.
She also encouraged Aglow members to get involved in all areas of the community.
“Jesus is the greatest QC. We can only know victory if we have first gone to battle,” O’Connor-Connolly said.
April Lewis, President of the local Aglow chapter said members were encouraged by the deputy premier’s remarks.
“Her message was precise and uplifting and we were honoured to have her,” she said.
Ms. Lewis said the Cayman Aglow chapter has a mandate to change the nation by reaching out to, and strengthening families.
“Our Generation Project is to rehabilitate, heal and bring together groups including gang members and prisoners and we are also charged to help seniors. These are the programmes that God has set out for us,” Ms Lewis said.
