Thompson Shipping has provided assistance to the Cayman Islands Red Cross to help fix a 20-foot container, which now serves as a warehouse for donated items such as clothing and furniture.
Over the years, Thompson Shipping, a part of the Thompson Shipping family business, has been providing support to the Cayman Islands Red Cross Thrift Shop.
In October 2009, the local chapter of the international relief organisation established a Thrift Shop in Cayman Brac. The opening of the facility has helped allow for residents to enjoy an affordable shopping experience. With the assistance of Thompson Shipping, supplies have been shipped to Cayman Brac and the shop has continued to function.
“It is our pleasure here at Thompson Shipping, to lend our services to such a worthy organisation whether it is donating the shipping of their items to their Brac shop or helping with repairing and trucking of a storage container, we try to help in any way we are able to,” said Jeannine Thompson. “We are grateful for all they do in our community.”
During the past three years, the Cayman Islands Red Cross’ shop has expanded with community outreach projects – such as ‘Deals on Wheels’ and the Book Drive – as well as an increase in the number of volunteers.
“We are very grateful for the ongoing support of Thompson Shipping” said Remy Imperial, Cayman Islands Red Cross shop manager. “They have always been accommodating with all requests and have assisted in facilitating the Red Cross operations pertaining to Cayman Brac.”
The Red Cross shop, both in Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac, continues to provide clothing, furniture and household items to members of the general public.
