A ceremony was held on Tuesday, 27 March at the Governor’s House in Grand Cayman to help bring Honouring Women’s Month to a close in the Cayman Islands.
Representatives from various women’s empowerment groups gathered for the reception, which saw awards presented to those who have contributed to issues impacting women.
Governor Duncan Taylor told those on hand that it could only be more fitting to honour women every day of the year and applauded the efforts of those involved with representing women’s issues.
“We know that women play a special role in keeping the fabric of society together and keeping us men in line. I myself have a wife and daughters and so I spend a much of my time at home honouring women,” he joked.
March was designated Honouring Women’s Month in the Cayman Islands 14 years ago. This year’s the theme was Women Making History in recognition of women who have broken gender barriers and shattered society’s glass ceilings.
