Lyneth’s ladies hinder starlets

All Stars netball club seem poised for postseason excellence.

The A squad, sponsored by Central Cooling, beat Rising Stars A 35-25 last Saturday at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex netball courts. The contest was part of the Cayman Islands Netball Association 2012 open league.

The win propels All Stars A to a 7-1 record, good enough for second in the league. Rising Stars drop to 7-2, in third place. AS captain Lyneth Monteith states the victory clarifies the playoff picture.

“The remainder of the tournament is, at present, full of surprises,” Monteith said. “The top three spots are more or less set but the fourth place is still to be determined. I believe the top teams are working hard to prepare for the knockout competition so once again netball supporters are in for great competition.”

Monteith, who boasts talented team-mates like Lisa Kemp, has a point. Roma A is 7-1 ahead of both AS and RS. Flames Strikers are currently 5-4 in fourth place. However they lost by one point to Unity A on Saturday, who improve to 4-4 in sixth place. All Stars B, sponsored by Cayman National Bank, are fifth with a 4-3 record.

All Stars are expected to host a Family Funday on Monday, 21 May from 10am to 4pm at the Smith Road Oval. There will also be a drawing for the postponed Easter Raffle.
