The streets of Camana Bay’s town centre will be filled with exotic African, Cuban and Caymanian rhythms on Saturday, 21 April, when the I am Percussion Ensemble, made up of drummers Randy Chollette, Damion Thaxter and Eden Hurlston, play in Gardenia Court from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
The group was formed to promote brotherhood, unity and cultural development through the integration of music. It’s a jam session so anyone is welcome to bring along their own instruments (or even voices) and join in – or simply enjoy listening to the infectious beats.
“Camana Bay is dedicated to helping shape Cayman’s cultural scene. The Drum Circle is a new addition to our offerings, and it’s a great example of how we are continuing to form partnerships with local artists,” said Karie Bounds, Camana Bay Cultural Programme coordinator. “This particular event has facilitated creativity not only through music, but also dance, poetry and song.”
