Juniors jump ahead

Horse lovers can jump for joy in May.

The Cayman Islands Equestrian Federation will be hosting the second leg of the Caribbean Equestrian Association’s Junior Show Jumping competition on 12-13 May on Grand Cayman.

Cayman will host teams from Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and Jamaica. Representing the Cayman Islands will be Polly Serpell (14 years-old) in the 16 years and under category and Thea Millward, 13, in the 14 years and under category.

The two-day event involves each rider riding four horses (previously unknown to the visiting riders) over four different courses. The Cayman federation is providing a total of eight competition horses as well as reserve horses. The federation is grateful to The Equestrian Centre in George Town, Nicki Millward and Milly Serpell for allowing their horses to be used for the competition.

The Equestrian Centre stages the show and there is no entry fee for spectators.

For more information, contact Milly Serpell at [email protected] or call 926-1551.
