One of the musicians to be featured in this year’s Muzaic Festival is Gordon Solomon.
The singer/songwriter will take the stage during the awards ceremony of the festival slated for the Harquail Theatre on 1 July. With the recent release of his original tune Presentense, many will no doubt be drawn to hear more from the artist.
Known to many in the community as an artist/painter, Gordon’s depth of thought and introspective perspective easily segue into his music and with melodies akin to classical progressions, he delivers a witty, yet gravitas portion of vibrations.
As a musician, Gordon has been honing his sound since the late 1990s, after a near fatal car accident, which led hem to begin searching for a deeper meaning in his life. It was not long before he started learning to play the guitar and aligning himself with individuals who were of similar interests.
Gordon started to record his first demos and organise community events such as the first Youth Anti-Violence March in 2001. He has also played a series of high profile shows during the past several years in the Cayman Islands in various ensembles. These include the Lift Jesus Higher concert in 2001, as well as the Inaugural Jazz Fest with Love Culture. These performances were followed by opening calls with Love Culture for artists such as Damian Marley.
With two albums to their credit, “Lamb and Lion,” and Solid Rock,” Solomon and his wife, Alta, have been laying down a vast body of work that will no doubt affect the musical landscape as time goes on.
The name of the new band that Gordon has been making the rounds with is Vanguard. It is without question that folks can expect a high energy outing from Gordon and his band. Show time begins at 7pm. Don’t miss this one.
