They were inspired by Invitational champs

It certainly wasn’t on the same scale as the Cayman Invitational, but the youngsters competing at the World Athletics Day meet looked inspired from seeing their heroes a few days earlier.

The development meet at the Truman Bodden Complex on Saturday was another chance to improve their times and distances for forthcoming international youth meets. They too want to eventually emulate the likes of Yohan Blake, Carmelita Jeter and Cydonie Mothersill.

In the field events, Alex Pascal and Jonathan Frederick impressed in the javelin and on the track, Dwayne Anglin-Folkes, Tori-Ann Gonez, Taj Yen, Demetri Chambers, Pearl Morgan and Jeavhon Jackson all did well in winning their events.

It certainly all augers well for the future when Cayman’s best hope to compete in future Cayman Invitationals.
