Local players are continuing their beach volleyball assault in Cuba.
Jennifer Bily and Cristin Alexander will be Cayman’s lone female tandem while Philippe Deslandes and Olney Thompson will represent the men. They will be playing on Varadero Beach this weekend, 8-10 June.
All are competing on the sixth stop of the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation 2012 tour. Some 14 countries will be represented including Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica.
Bily and Alexander are coming off victories at the recent University of the West Indies International 2012 Beach Volleyball Invitational. The tandem went 4-1 in Jamaica and defeated Barbados in the final. Thompson teamed up with Richard Campbell and placed fourth.
Last month, Bily stated that she was inspired to storm Cuba.
“We are playing controlled and relaxed but with a lot of intensity,” Bily said. “We have had some great “scramble” plays and are serving effectively too.”
