A team of six people from Cayman Brac are eagerly awaiting their trip to George Town to take part in the mixed martial arts seminars this weekend.
They will join 34 others for two seminars from world renowned instructors at the Dalmain Ebanks Boxing Gym on Saturday.
After the seminars there will be the first ever grappling event here in two divisions, depending on experience. Competitors are expected from the Bahamas, Honduras, Cayman Brac and Grand Cayman.
Justin French, the team organiser, said “We are really excited to be able to take part in these seminars. We love martial arts in the Brac and appreciate the support the business community has given us.”
French and seminar organiser Bob Daigle plan on launching classes in the Brac in the near future. The training provided in these seminars will help increase everyone’s awareness of the mushrooming martial arts scene in the Cayman Islands. For more information, email: [email protected]
“We would like to say a special thanks to Cayman Airways for sponsoring four tickets to Grand Cayman,” Daigle said. “I’m pleased that these young Cayman Brackers will have a chance to train with Danny Davis Jr, who is a three time amateur kickboxing champion and Derek Weaver a North American Grappling Champion. Coconut Car rental supplied a car for the team and Villas of the Galleon provided accommodation.”
Daigle also thanked local instructor Master Steve Graham and Dr. Paulino Rodrigues.
