Caymanian group nominated for two Soca awards

On the heels of the producer’s recent Grammy win for his work on the Eminem Recovery album in 2011, he and his group/band have now been nominated for the International Soca Awards in two separate categories. The first nomination the group received is in the Best Soca Collaboration category for their song Whine, featuring Machel Montano. They are up against acts such as Patrice Roberts and Kerwin Dubois’ “I am Soca,” Michelle X and Kes’ “Head Bad-On D Road,” Kerwin Dubois and Bunji Garlin’s “Runaway,” Faye-Ann Lyons and Barron’s “All Over” and Problem Child and Tallpree’s “Think Ah Drunk”.

The second nomination the group have been selected for is Best Soca Video. This is also for the song “Whine” which was directed by Sean Bodden. In the category the men are up against Edwin Yearwood and Krosfyah’s “Good Time,” which was directed by Mathew Pilgrim and Kwame McDowall; Skhi’s “Can’t Stay Away” by Director Remy; Kes the Band’s “Stress Away,” which was directed by Ryan C. Khan and produced by Simon Baptist, Carolyn Pasea and Kes the Band and several other nominees.

The men’s recent video for their song “Rock and Come In,” the title track off their sophomore album has also been rotating heavily on Tempo and is currently in the Top 10 countdown on the station.
